World Refugee Day (WRD) is celebrated around the world on June 20th each year. This year our community will be celebrating this important day on Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Hanna Park at City Hall! 

WRD is a day to raise awareness about the plight of refugees around the world and to gather support for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees’ work.  Educate yourself by learning from refugees who have come to call our community home as we celebrate many cultures, one community. 

The day of events includes vendors hosting tables at the International Bazaar, music and entertainment from local businesses and organizations, safety demonstrations by Utica Fire & Police, and much more.  Make sure to bring your appetite because vendors will prepare authentic foreign foods for guests.  To make this day a success we need your help.   Organizations and individuals can get involved by donating a bicycle, sponsoring a children’s activity, becoming a vendor or volunteering your time!
